Betty Ocepek

Betty Jane Ocepek, 89, of Ottawa passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, December 6, 1914 at Ottawa Pavilion. A private family service and Mass of Christian Burial will take place December 10 at St. Patrick's Church, Ottawa with the Rev. Fr. Tony Fevel officiating. Burial will follow at St. Columba Cemetery. Mrs. Ocepek was born September 23, 1925 in Ottawa. She was the daughter of William and Beulah (McCullough) Conrad. She married Joseph Ocepek November 11, 1944. He preceded her in death on October 12, 1974. Mrs. Ocepek was born and raised in Ottawa, attended St. Francis Grade School, and graduated from Ottawa High School in 1942. She retired from the Ottawa Medical Center where she was employed for over twenty-five years as secretary and patient scheduler. She attended St. Patrick's Church of Ottawa. She loved spending time with her family and friends, and enjoyed music and dancing. She is survived by her son, Gary (Shelli) Ocepek of Ottawa; one brother Jerry (Evelyn) Conrad; one sister Patricia (James) Pryde of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri; and sister-in-law, Zita Conrad; three grandsons, Ryan (Becky) Ocepek of Eagle, Colorado, Brady (Allison) Ocepek of Ottawa, and Casey (Amanda) Ocepek, of Ottawa; three great-grandchildren, Aidan, Lily, and Kaisley; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Ralph D. Conrad; her husband Joseph (Joe) Ocepek; brother John (Jack) Conrad; nephew Jeffrey Conrad; and long-time friends Dean Leonard of Earlville and Russell Sherman.
