Betty J. Nielsen

Betty J. Nielsen, 78, of Ottawa, formerly of Hammond, IN, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. A Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Ottawa Funeral Home with Rev. Duane Kaufman officiating. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 a.m., Wednesday, one hour prior to services at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be private. Betty was born October 1, 1932 in Wyanet, IL to Charles and Della (Norris) Neff. She married Donald E. Nielsen September 2, 1967. He died January 25, 2002. Betty moved from Hammond, Indiana in 2007 to Ottawa, IL to live with her sister. Betty is survived by one sister, Beulah Reed of Ottawa; one niece, Betty Leigh Brunney of Columbia, Mississippi; and two nephews, Larry Neff of Bradford, IL, and Richard (Velda) Reed of LaSalle, IL. She is preceded in death by her husband and one brother, Vernon Neff. Memorials may be directed to the Donor's Choice.
