Bert F. Hill

Bert F. Hill, 71, of Utica, died Monday, August 4, 2008 at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, August 8, 2008 at Ottawa Funeral Home with the Rev. Philip Halfacre officiating. Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery with Military Services. Visistation will be from 4:00 til 7:00 PM Thursday, August 7, 2008 at the funeral home. Mr. Hill was born August 6, 1936, in Ottawa to Ralph B. and Lucille (Monroe) Hill. He married Nancy Yates October 31, 1959 at St. Patrick's Church in Ottawa. He was a member of Ottawa Moose Lodge and the American Legion. He was a volunteer driver for the LaSalle County Veterans Home in Peru for 5 years. Bert worked at Owens Illinois Glass for 46 1/2 years and was a member of American Flint Glass Workers Union #64. Bert served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1957, during which time he served on the U.S.S. New Jersey Battleship and the U.S.S. Roanoke Cruiser. Mr. Hill is survived by his wife, Nancy; one son, Troy (Tammy) of Ottawa; one granddaughter, Bonnie Neeley of Ottawa; one great-grandson, Dominic Luis Onoroto and three brothers, John, Ryan, and Aaron Hill all of Ottawa. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jerry Hill. Pallbearers will be Tom Rolando, Art Frangenburg, Leo Sauvageau, Tom Proctor, Ryan Hill and Frances Almeda.
