Belle S. Neufeld, 100, of Ottawa, IL, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Ottawa Pavilion.
She was born on April 7, 1921 in Chicago, IL to Clara and Jack Schwartz. Belle wed Dr. G. Alan (Bud) Neufeld in 1943. They were married for 57 years and made their home in Ottawa after his Navy service concluded.
With Tom Hill, Belle proudly co-founded the Ottawa Community Players. She was a devoted OCP patron and stage actor for many years. Belle enjoyed golf at Pine Hills, was an enthusiastic bridge player and delighted in being a hostess. She was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Boat Club. Belle and her dearest friends used to meet every Friday afternoon for Lunch Bunch. She was a patriotic lady who loved America and she especially cherished nature. Belle was an exceptional grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Holly Ross and Robert Neufeld; her granddaughter, Jessica (Phillip) Poole and great-grandson, Blake Poole; her brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Lucy Schwartz; nieces, Abby Douglass and Carol Mell; her sister-in-law, Mary Neufeld; niece, Anne Rutz; and extended family afar.
Memorials may be directed to OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Center where Doc saw patients for decades and Belle used to volunteer.
