Barbara J. Wheatland, 75, of Ottawa passed away Friday, March 9, 2018 at Ottawa Pavilion.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at St. Patrick's Church with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Ottawa Funeral Home with prayers at 3:45 with The Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Burial will be at a later date at St. Columba Cemetery.

Barb was born January 30, 1943 in Ottawa, Illinois to Hubert and Alice (Allen) Scherer. She married Joseph Wheatland on November 21, 1964 at St. Columba Church.

Barb worked as a registered nurse in the home health field, several geriatric facilities, and retired from Heritage Woods as Administrator. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church, and The Catholic Daughter's of the America's.

She is survived by three sons, Martin (Julie) Wheatland, Richard (Shelley) Wheatland and Michael Wheatland; three grandchildren, Casey, Joe, and Ellen Wheatland; one sister, Mary Anne Scherer; and four brothers, Hubert (Pearl) Scherer, Don Scherer, Allen (Jeannie) Scherer and Chuck (Cathy) Scherer.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe; one sister, Pat Green; her in laws, Alice Scherer, Terry Green, Rick VanBuren, and Marty Wheatland.

Pallbearers will be Ellen Wheatland, Joe Wheatland, Casey Wheatland, Dan Green, Ralph Scherer, Charlie Scherer, and David Scherer

Memorials may be directed to Friendship Village, or Marquette Academy.
