Barbara Thompson

Barbara Anne Thompson, 79, of Ottawa, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at The Pavilion of Ottawa.

Visitation will be on Monday, July 31 from 9:00 until 10:00am at Ottawa Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30am at St. Columba Church. Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery.

Barbara was born January 8, 1944, in Ottawa, IL, to Leo and Grace (Jensen) Thompson.

She worked for over 40 years for the unemployment office in Ottawa. Even after her retirement, she would still regularly volunteer there; she was extremely dedicated to the people they served. She was an avid Cubs fan, enjoyed doing a good crossword, and was always well informed on current events. She looked forward to her weekly talks with her sister that she did for years. She was a member of St. Columba Church.

She is survived by her nephew, Andrew (Stacy) Zorn; her great niece and nephews, Evan and Ellie Zorn and Josh Hicks; and her caretaker, Shari (Bob) Stoudt. She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents; her sister, Kay (Dan) Zorn; and her nephew, Eric Zorn.
