August "Gus" Freschi

August "Gus" Freschi, 77, of Ottawa, Illinois passed away Sunday, January 3, 2016 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday January 7, 2016 at the Ottawa Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Zehrung of Grace Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Cremation rites will take place following the services. Burial will be at a later date.

August was born December 22, 1938 in Oglesby to August Sr. and Shirley (Crews) Freschi. He married Karla Eirhart on June 19, 1993 in Ottawa.

August was a long time member of the Ottawa and LaSalle County Police Departments, and is now currently retired. He enjoyed spending time with his family and having breakfast with his friends at the HiWay Restaurant.

He is survived by his wife, Karla Freschi; four daughters, Lisa (Jim) Marsh, Jaclyn (Austin) Watts, Candice (Charles) Jensen, and Jennifer (Brandon) Zeman; four sons, Doug, Dr. Scott (April), and Andrew Freschi, and Dustin (Shannon) Eirhart; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; and two sisters, Patricia (Dennis) Pond, and Sandy Whitbeck.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother Don, and one grandson Eric.
