Arthur Neil Majcina, 87, of Ottawa, passed away October 13, 2011 at Ottawa Regional Hospital and Healthcare. Mass of Christian Burial for Arthur will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 17, 2011 at St. Columba Church. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 16, 2011 at the Ottawa Funeral Home with prayers at 3:00 p.m with the Knights of Columbus in attendance. Graveside services will be at Oakwood Memorial Park with Military Services. Arthur was born on March 11, 1924, in Ottawa, to John and Annie Majcina. For three years Arthur served as a staff sergeant with the U.S. Army under General Eisenhower during World War II stationed in France, England, and Germany earning a bronze star. He then worked as a maintenance foreman at Libbey- Owens- Ford for forty years retiring in 1986. Art was also a member of the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, and the Moose. Throughout his life, Art loved to work with his hands; he especially liked oil painting and working with stained glass. He always enjoyed the company of family and friends, and entertained his grandchildren with numerous, memorable stories. He was a remarkable husband, father and grandfather and will be missed dearly. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Theresa (Alaimo) Majcina; his brothers, Ray (Dorothy) of DeKalb, Il and Bob (Jean) Majcina of Sebring FL; his sister Betty Nawa of Peru, IL; son Arthur Majcina (Jane) of Goodfield, IL; daughter Dorothy DeBolt (Tom) of San Diego, CA; six grandchildren: Kathy Johnson (Brent), Michael (Amy), Ryan (Sarah), Jennifer Teubl (Steve), Karen and Lisa DeBolt; and six great-grandchildren, Abby, Ben, Jacob, Austin, Connor, and Jack Arthur, all of whom he loved very much. Arthur was preceded in death by his older brother, Ed Majcina (Mary). Pallbearers will be Ryan and Mike Majcina, Brent Johnson, Steve Teubl, Tom DeBolt, and George Alaimo.
