Arthur "Booger" Halm, 90, of Ottawa, died April 12 at Illinois Veterans Home in La Salle. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Church with the Rev. Ronald Dodd officiating.Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with military services. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday with prayers at 4 at Ottawa Funeral Home. He was born Aug. 28, 1918, in Ottawa, to Henry and Julia (Ellwart) Halm. He married Mary Rose Nov.27, 1947, at St. Columba Church. He retired from Libbey-Owens-Ford. He was a member of St. Francis Church and American Legion. He served in the 83rd Army Corps of Engineers in the European Theater during World War II. Survivors include his wife,Mary; two daughters, Janet (Michael) Gillham of Chillicothe and Ruth Halm of Green Dale, Wis.; one son,Paul Arthur (Beth) Halm of Mokena; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother,Howard Halm of Ottawa. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and three brothers. Pallbearers will be Christopher, Nathan, Tom and Allan Halm, William Rose and James Conness. Honorary pallbearer will be Michael Hovis. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
