Archie "Buck" Hill, 82, of Marseilles, IL passed away Sunday February 14, 2010 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 am Friday February 19, 2010 at St. Mary's of the Field Church in Grand Ridge with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 Thursday, February 18, at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park. Buck was born January 20, 1928 in Ottawa, Il to Archie and Christina (Besse) Hill. He married Mary Jo Baker April 15, 1950 at St. Patrick's Church in Ottawa. He worked at L.O.F. and farmed north and south of Ottawa for most of his life. He played softball for Walter Seed, LaSalle County Farm Bureau, and the 35ers. He was a member of St. Mary's of the Field Church in Grand Ridge, LaSalle County Farm Bureau, and also owned a corn shelling business for over twenty years which gave him the opportunity to shell all over the county. He is survived by his wife; three sons, Dan (Jan) of Grand Ridge, Greg (Kellee) of Streator, and Steve (Dot) Pheonix, AZ; one daughter, Beth (Ken) Capponi of Tonica; eleven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Sandra (Joe) Kern of Seneca and Dot Hintze of Mazon, IL; and one brother, Ron (Bonnie) Hill of Grand Ridge. Buck is preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Kay Heath and a sister in infancy. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Memorials may be directed to Masses or Grand Ridge Fire Department.
