Anne Barton, 99, of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away Friday, July 11, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Ottawa. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 am Thursday, July 17, 2014 at St. Columba Church with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the Ottawa Funeral Home with the Rosary at 3:45 pm. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Anne was born June 21, 1915 in Aurora, Illinois to John and Elizabeth (Popp) Kuk. She married Erving Barton in 1933. He died March 22, 1987. She attended St. Francis grade school, St. Xavier High School, and then Brown's Business School. While in high school she was a starter basketball player. Anne was a member of St. Columba Church the Ottawa Elks Club. She loved to play bridge. She is survived by four daughters and two sons, Joanne Highland, Rosalie Pavy, Neysa (Dave) Derbort, Celeste (Lyle) Heusner, David (Karen) Barton, all of Ottawa, and James (Linda) Barton of Oswego; 30 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; three brothers, Thomas, George (Marilyn) and Louis (Naomi) Kuk. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Erving J. Barton; a son, Erving Barton; a daughter, Elizabeth Stern; one sister, Mary Hills; one brother, John Kuk II; and two grandchildren, Shawn Pavy and Scott Derbort. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jared Thumm, Blase Heusner, Andrew Barton, Steven Barton, Josh Taylor, Justin Keeney, Brandon Leal, and Worth Spears. Memorials may be directed to St. Columba Church.
