Ann, our Granny Girl, was very special and she was dearly loved. She had a witty sense of humor that could make you laugh until you cried. She had amazing strength, fighting a courageous battle to stay with her family for as long as she possibly could. She loved to read, play Canasta, made the best Kringla, and her pies were famous. She enjoyed volunteering in the Seneca School District PTA, and served as past president of the American Legion Auxiliary for many years. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Ann fiercely loved her family and farm with all of her heart and soul; she was a loving mom, granny, and great-granny. Granny girl was our glue, our strength, and our hero. She will be greatly missed.
Ann was born May 16, 1942 in Seneca to George and Frieda (Kramper) Hochstetler. She married Nathan Applebee Sr. on August 9, 1960 in Ottawa. Ann and Nate just recently celebrated their 57th anniversary.
Ann and Nate have three children, Nathan (Rose) Applebee Jr., Donelyn (John) Williams, and James (Alyce) Applebee, all of Seneca. Ann and Nate were blessed with nine grandchildren, Cheryl (Scott) Eames, Nathan (Jessica) Applebee III, Kaelyn (Alejandro) Rodriguez Jr., John Williams Jr., and Addysen, Ethan, Eli, Owen, and Evan Applebee; and four great-grandchildren, Maia Eames, Ava Eames, Alaina Applebee, and Jordan Applebee. Ann is also survived by her sister, Mary (Robert) Baldwin of Nichols, NY.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Andrew Hochstetler.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
