Almida Marie Piggott

Almida Marie Lencioni Piggott, 85, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva. Almida was born in Ottawa on January 11, 1926. She was a long time resident of Ottawa, an Ottawa High School graduate and member of St. Patrick's Church. Recently, Almida had been a resident at The Homestad in Batavia, Illinois. Mass of Christian Burial for Almida will be Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick's Church in Ottawa with Rev. Joseph Donton officiating. Visitation will be Friday, October 7, 2011 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM with prayers at 4:00 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Almida spent her childhood working with her sisters and brother for their father Dario "Rosie" Lencioni serving ice cream sundaes at Bianchi's. After attending DePaul, she worked at the Ottawa City Hall as a secretary to Mayor Bailey. She finally retired after spending many enjoyable years as a PE teacher at St. Pat's Grade School. Almida married John Francis Piggott on July 31, 1954 at St. Patrick's Church in Ottawa. He died December 3, 1986. Almida and John had three boys, Shawn, Kevin and Michael. Almida loved spending her time with her children and all the activities they were involved in, especially cheering from the stands at Ottawa High School football games. She was always a great fan and friend to many in her loving town of Ottawa. Almida is survived by her sons, Kevin of Naperville and his three children Kelly, Shannon and Sean and Michael (Judy) of Naperville and their children Katie Jo and Sara. She is also survived by her loving sisters, Norma, Gilda and Peggy of Batavia and brother Dario of Wheaton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, John Piggott, her oldest son Shawn and parents Dario and Elvira Lencioni. Pallbearers will be John, Robert, Paul Lencioni, Michael Townson, Michael Cassidy and Kevin Holahan. Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick's Church.
