Alice E. Pitstick

Alice E. Pitstick, 85, of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away Monday, December 31, 2012, at Ottawa Pavilion. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 7, 2013, at St. Francis of Assisi Church with Rev. Michael Adrie officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 6, 2013, with prayers at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Alice was born November 11, 1927 in Ottawa, Illinois, to Henry A. and Marie (McCormick) Schiffgens. She married Vincent Pitstick April 15, 1950, at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Ottawa. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, past Chairwoman of the Ladies of the Elks and of the Ottawa Woman's Club. She was also a long time employee of Pitstick Pavilion and long-term volunteer at the hospital. She is survived by her husband, Vincent; two sons, Stephen (Mary) and Paul (Tammy) both of Ottawa; two daughters, Karen (Jim) Mitchell of Oro Valley, AZ, Carol Rivers of Gilbert, AZ; fourteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three brothers, George (Marie) Schiffgens of Red Hill, PA, Ralph (Dorothy) Schiffgens of Ottawa, and Tom (Mary) Schiffgens of Crofton, MD; and one sister, Evelyn (Peter) Zabawa of Ottawa. She is preceded in death by her parents; and two daughters, Joan Pitstick and Ann (Mark) Gavenda. Pallbearers will be Ben Mitchell, Neil and Jason Pitstick, Trevor Behrens, and Dave and Don Jakubek. Memorials may be directed to OSF St. Elizabeth Auxiliary.
