OTTAWA -- Alice Leix, 79, of Ottawa, died Friday, Oct. 12, at her home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Ottawa Funeral Home with Father Gerald Meyer officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, with prayers at 4 p.m. Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Mrs. Leix was born Dec. 10, 1927, in La Salle, to Edward and Louise (Jancer) Zucker. She married Andrew R. Leix Jr. on Sept. 22, 1951, at St. Francis of Assisi Church. He died Aug. 27, 2002. She was a registered nurse at Ryburn-King Memorial Hospital and Community Hospital of Ottawa for 40 years, retiring in 1992. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and Slovenian Women's League. She is survived by a daughter, Laurie (Michael) Fox, of Bettendorf, Iowa; two sons, Steven Leix, of Wenona, and Patrick (Hilary) Leix, of Clayton, N.C.; nine grandchildren Brian and Andrew Fox, Steven, Robby, Jessica, Mallory, Michael and David Leix, Samantha (Duane) Graupman; one great-grandchild Alyssa Graupman; a niece and a nephew Julie (Larry) Martin and Martin Leix and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband; and an infant daughter, Maryann. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Honorary Pallbearers will be Michael and David. Memorials may be made to the family.
