Aldona Margaret Olson, 98, of Seneca (formerly of Libertyville, IL) passed away Monday, January 16, 2017 at Morris Hospital.
Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the Lithuanian National Cemetery in Justice, IL.
Aldona was born October 10, 1918 in Chicago to Joseph and Elizabeth (Bruzgulas) Povelonis. She married Francis P. Olson on December 19, 1950 in Chicago.
She attended the Evangelical Free Church of Libertyville for 40 years. Upon moving to Seneca, she attended Seneca United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Fireside Unit of Lake County and the Seneca Morning Unit of LaSalle County of Home and Community Education, from which she received the 75+ Lifetime Achievement Award. She was a Cub Scout Leader, the President of the local chapter of AARP, and a member of the Historical Society of Fort Hill. Aldona was also a member of the Libertyville Senior Council, where she is in the Hall of Fame for volunteer work.
Aldona is survived by two sons, Thomas (Marie) Olson of Noank, CT; and James (Kendra) Olson of Seneca; four grandchildren, Gavin, Darin, Francis (Suzanne), and Margeret; and her sister-in-law, Lillian Sank of Boston, MA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two brothers.
