Alan Greene

Jan 26, 1952 — Jul 20, 2026

Alan Norman Greene, 74, passed away at Goldwater Care Marseilles on July 20, 2026. He was born to John and Catherine (Burke) Greene on January 26, 1952 and graduated from Carl Sandburg High School in Orland Park. He married the love of his life, Christine Forsythe, on November 9, 1974. Together, they shared a son, Timothy.

Alan worked at the Chicago Board of Trade as a computer programmer until his retirement. In his spare time, he would also work at BlackBerry Farms in Aurora, IL. He enjoyed blacksmithing and whittling whistles along with other hand carved wooden items. Alan had a passion for anything Christine enjoyed, which led to them moving from Aurora, IL to Marseilles in 1995, where they purchased Shepherdwoods Farm and began raising Shetland Sheep. In his later years, Alan enjoyed being a PopPop to his only grandchild, Gwendolyn. He loved sharing a pizza with her and watching her explore the world.

Alan is survived by his siblings, John, Donald, Gordon, and Bill Greene; his son, Timothy (Lindsey) Greene; and his granddaughter Gwendolyn Greene. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Catherine; his sister Julienne Wagner (Greene); and his wife Christine.

Cremation rites have been entrusted to Ottawa Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will take place at the AFSCME union hall (410 W Joliet St Ottawa IL) on July 31, 2026, at 3 o'clock in the afternoon.

Memorials may be directed to the Melvin Weinstein The Parkinson's Foundation (mwfp.org) or to the family.
