Laura L. Dziedzic, 74, of Ottawa passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center. A Celebration of Life will be held 4:00 to 7:00 pm, Saturday, June 16, at the Turnberry Court Clubhouse, 2811 Champlain Street, Ottawa, IL, 61350. Ottawa Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with cremation rites. Laura was born November 21, 1943, in Oak Park, Illinois, to Willard Jean and Florence Leone (Baker) Taggart. She married Stan Dziedzic on June 19, 1965, in Chicago. Laura retired as a typesetter for DuPage County after 18 years. During 1966-1969, she taught spoken American English in Bangkok, Thailand. She was a founding member of the Elmhurst YMCA Y-KNOTs; a women's empowerment group. She was a member of the LaSalle County Historical Society for ten years, an adjunct member of the DuPage County ESDA, and a member of the Ottawa Canal Association. She was also a member of HAG-Historical Alliance Group. Laura was a loving wife, mom, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Stan; her son, David (Julie) Dziedzic; her daughter, Katherine (Jason) Rhear; three grandchildren, Brynna, Zander, and Allison; and her sister, Barbara Jean (Larry) Potts. She was preceded in death by her parents.
