Larry Bastian Obituary

Larry Bastian, 83, of Marseilles, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024 with his children and grandchildren by his side.

Cremation rites have been entrusted to Ottawa Funeral Home

Larry was born October 6, 1940, in Ottawa, IL, to Ralph and Mae (Severson) Bastian. He married Donna Jean Harden on October 15, 1981 in Ottawa, IL.

Larry was a taxi cab driver in Ottawa for many years, and that's where he met the love of his life, Donna. In his free time, he loved to play bingo, the lottery and sweepstakes. He always knew tomorrow was the day Publisher's Clearing House would show up with the big check. He was an extremely talented pool player and won many trophies alongside his brother, Dewey. He enjoyed watching old game shows and westerns and enjoyed all the old black and whites. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren going out to eat and going shopping and was always the first to volunteer to take them to their sporting events and activities. He was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed by those who had the opportunity to meet him, especially his bingo buddies.

He is survived by his children, Belinda Bogren, Roscoe (Emily) Morgan, Tina (Wynn) Sohm; and Tara, Michael, and Donald Bastian, his grandchildren, Amanda (Jeremy) Wheeler, Jesse Diaz, Jill Dunn, Taylor, Alex and Bryant Morgan, Emma, Abby and Anna Whalen, Saje (Matti) Branson and Morgan Branson; several great-grandchildren; his brothers, Robert (Bob) Bastian of Ottawa, IL and Roger Bastian (Ellen) of Olney, IL; his sisters, Lois Wawerski, of Greeneville, TN, Judy Ortiz of Ottawa, IL, Diana Gunderson (Knute) of Plainfield, IL; as well as numerous extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Mae; his son in law, Buck Bogren; and his brothers, Ralph (Sonny) Bastian, Gary Bastian, and Duane "Dewey" Bastian.

Memorials may be directed to OSF Hospice.
